Why Choose Organic Clothing

Choosing to live in a healthy and organic way can be a little bit tricky. One does not have to be totally living in the organic way because there are lots of ways to it. You can choose to be an organic food eater, meaning, everything that you eat are organically grown in organic farms. You can be an organic beauty junkie. Everything that you use on your body from shampoo to body lotion, are all organic. Or you can choose to be an organic clothing junkie. Yes, there are a lot of clothing companies now that make clothes from organic fabrics like cotton, hemp, silk and other materials.

There are a lot of reasons why you should choose to buy and wear organic clothing and I can give you five reasons why.

First of all, organic clothing reduces the earth polluting toxins because there wont be pesticides and germicides that will be sprayed to the plant growing the fabric. It also reduces allergy causing allergens because some chemicals can be highly allergenic. Did you know that the estimated amount of herbicides and pesticides used in traditional farming is 25 percent of all global use?

Second reason is that it saves money. The clothes made of organic fabrics are very durable and a simple shirt can survive a lot of machine washes before it begins to break apart. Those made of bamboo or cotton can last up to 100 machine washes and those made of hemp, one of the most durable materials from nature, can last you decades. So it means you don't have to replace clothes as often as possible.

Third reason is that it supports the environment greatly. Anything man made is harmful to the environment so as much as possible, stay away from these.

Fourth, it sustains the agriculture practices. Organic fertilizers such as animal manure and compost improves the microbial activity of the soil. This also helps the health of the farmer because these organic fertilizers are safe for them.

Fifth and last reason is that it protects our earth for the future generations. Lester Brown has once said that “We have not inherited the Earth from our fathers. We are borrowing it from our children”. We have to change the way we treat the environment so that our future children will have a great planet.
